Argentina Meet-up

There are already 14 Minders working remotely from Argentina. We caught up with Gabriel Medina to find out about the team's first meet-up in this beautiful country!

Setting the Scene:

The get-together happened in mid-February and was the perfect opportunity for our remote Minders in Argentina to catch up in person. As the Minders there work from across the whole country, it was a really lovely chance to gain a human connection and see each other face to face! You could say it was a team-building experience, but it responded to the need for a real, genuine connection amongst the Minders here.

In total, 5 Minders made it to the gathering, with 3 staying over in the country house AirBnb. It was a fun-packed weekend with lots of food, drinks and laughter!

And the Feedback?

When we caught up with the team, they told us how it was an amazingly beautiful opportunity to get to know each other as people and in person rather than through Slack. By finding out where each other had come from, along with their journeys, interests, and hobbies, a real connection was formed! The Minders who went on this trip were all super happy to have had this opportunity.

Gabriel Medina told us the story of the time the team spent together:

"The team met on a beautiful weekend, in a country house, to spend some time together to get to know each other better,

Here are some photos of what these days were like, surrounded by trees, barbecue and Fernet with Coca-Cola. It can be seen we have coats in summer, I know.. but we had the coldest day of February! It was perfect for building a campfire!

For those who could not show up, don’t worry, we will have another one!"

Ivan Delvitto told us how:

"It was a great trip! I had already interviewed some of the team on a video call and I knew them virtually, so this was very different and enriching to meet personally and share our experiences and our future goals.

Also, we can't fail to mention the delicious food we enjoyed at this gathering, especially the Argentinian barbecue ("asado") that was cooked by one of the developers. This meeting undoubtedly allowed us to strengthen our ties and be able to collaborate more effectively in our group. The team is growing rapidly in Argentina and there will be many more trips like this."

Final Thoughts:

We champion remote and hybrid working at Mindera, after all, we are all human and we all deserve flexibility and a work-life balance that truly suits our individual and unique requirements and lifestyle! We also recognise that meeting in person hits different to remote catch-ups and events, so while flexibility is important to us, so is developing real-life connections and friendships - we can’t wait for the Argentina Minders to arrange their next meeting!
