Best Frontend Technologies — #NationalCodingWeek (2019).
Can you believe it is already day three of National Coding Week? Today we’ll be chatting to one of our frontend developers about the technologies they prefer to use to bring projects into reality.
We hope this inspires businesses and individuals to continue advancing their skills within the tech industry.
Today we are chatting with Mantas Astrauskas, Frontend Developer at Mindera UK — a rapidly expanding software company situated in Leicester city centre.
How did you get started as an engineer/developer?
“I started to learn about software development three years ago when I decided that I wanted to start coding!”
What technology/tools do you use to fulfil your potential in your role?
“I use loads of different technologies and tools on a daily basis. It all depends on what problems I need to solve. My favourite tool for web development is VSCode, as I work mostly with JavaScript.”
What programming languages/frameworks can you work with?
“From a programming language point of view, I enjoy working with JavaScript, Java, and a bit of Haskell.
“From a programming framework point of view, I am most comfortable working with React, Node.js, and Java Spring Boot.
“I use JavaScript, React, and Node.js on a daily basis at Mindera. As for Java, I used to use it to learn about programming at the beginning of my programming journey. I sometimes still use it for side projects.”
If you could master one technology this year, what would it be?
“TypeScript!”
What skills are required to be a successful coder?
“I believe that the most important skills in this field are problem-solving, communication, and willingness to learn.”
What advice would you give to people who are interested in a career at Mindera?
“If you want to work here, just apply! If you feel that you lack some kind of skills then start working towards learning them and apply after that. That’s how I did it.”
How do you achieve a work-life balance at Mindera?
“That’s easy. I’m responsible for my own work here at Mindera, which means that it’s up to me on how I manage my time. If I have something important to do outside of work, I can just go and do it as long as I finish my work in time.”
