Charting gaming’s future at DICE 2026

Garry Edwards reports from the key gaming event in Las Vegas.

DICE 2026 took place at the Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

Burning topics on the DICE 2026 agenda included the impact of AI, the importance of creative experimentation and VR.

Mindera was delighted to attend the recent DICE Summit in Las Vegas. This key date in the gaming calendar provided a wonderful opportunity for us to join the debate about what’s next in game development as we continue to grow our footprint in this rapidly evolving industry. Particularly as studio publishing grows more complex, requiring consideration of new channels, the latest technologies, and a tailored user experience.

Burning topics discussed by the 700-plus gaming and tech senior-level attendees from leading companies in the sector, such as Netflix, EA, Xbox and Disney, included the impact of AI, the importance of creative experimentation and VR. Three areas Mindera is actively embracing in a responsible, people-first, humanistic way in our mission to deliver outstanding, innovative gaming experiences and the best possible working environment for our talented developers.

Major publishers are moving towards using AI for backend operational leverage rather than just marketing.

Our US business development director Garry Edwards was on the ground connecting with the key players and taking the temperature of the industry first hand. One of the main themes that emerged from his conversations across the event was AI as infrastructure. “Major publishers are moving towards using AI for backend operational leverage rather than just marketing,” Garry explains.

Platform modernization was also high on the agenda, with Garry noting: “Several companies have aging tech stacks and require rebuilds or data backbone support.” He also spotted an interesting trend with the emergence of ecosystem aggregators. “Certain groups act as ‘gatekeepers’, providing a single point of entry to many studios and developers.”

Look out for our report on the sector’s next big event: the GDC Festival of Gaming, March 9-13 at San Francisco’s Moscone Center.

In the meantime, contact Garry to discuss any of the topics mentioned above and your current game development challenges.
