Empowering youth through technology

That’s what we believe at Mindera.

However, many are held back through socioeconomic factors out of their control that push them below the poverty line and put them at risk. Helping overcome this problem is the inspiration behind the global Mindera Tech Camp initiative.

Giving young people a chance

Launched in Portugal in 2022, our Tech Camps have since spread worldwide to the US, Romania and the UK. Their aim is to give at-risk young people the chance to experience and learn about the latest technology.

In a safe and welcoming environment, we provide our tech campers with the opportunity to explore the latest innovations, something they would struggle to do in their everyday lives due to their socioeconomic situation. They learn to write software code, programme robots, and more, starting to develop practical skills that could open the door to a career in technology.

Personal growth

Many of our camps also drive personal and social development in a fun and relaxed way through group games and physical activities. These include rowing, climbing and surfing.

Our Portugal Tech Camp programme, for example, has run 13 editions to date. It offers a practical way to change the lives of around 20 children and teenagers, aged between 6 and 17. We welcome young people from social institutions in Porto, Aveiro and Coimbra, providing them with a safe, fun, and inspiring experience, away from situations of risk.

Future innovators

Sowing the seeds of curiosity in technology, as well as boosting creativity, teamwork and time management skills, helps our tech campers to realise their full potential and gives them the power to change their circumstances.

This benefits not only them personally, but also the world at large, because it helps grow a skilled technology workforce that’s increasingly in demand globally, and also fuel the next generation of innovators.
