How experimentation accelerated FanDuel Racing’s product validation process.

The challenge

Before integrating Amplitude, FanDuel Racing relied on custom-built feature toggles to manage new releases. While functional, this system lacked flexibility and insight. Rolling out a feature meant toggling it “on” or “off” for all users, with little control over who experienced what – and no direct link to performance data or user feedback.

As the team began exploring new experiences, such as the next-generation Race Page for the Cross-Sell (X-Sell) app, it became clear that a more agile, data-informed approach was needed. The challenge was simple but critical: how can we validate usability and engagement early, before committing full development resources?

The solution

Mindera worked closely with the FDR technology team to integrate Amplitude Experiments, enabling controlled, measurable, and incremental feature rollouts.

Amplitude allowed the team to:

  • Target specific user groups — from small cohorts to wider audiences – based on behavior, geography, or app usage.
  • Launch experiments gradually, starting with a limited percentage of users and scaling as confidence grew.
  • Monitor results in real time, linking performance metrics, engagement, and retention directly to experimental variants.
  • Decide faster whether to iterate, pivot, or roll out fully, grounded in actual user data rather than assumptions.

Most importantly, this shift wasn’t about promoting one tool – it was about embedding a culture of continuous learning and validation. Integrating Amplitude into the existing FDR architecture turned experimentation into a core part of the product workflow, not an afterthought.

The outcome

The impact was immediate. The FDR team could now test new features within days, not weeks, and observe how users interacted with them in live conditions. Product, Design and Analytics teams gained actionable insights — understanding not just what users did, but why they behaved that way.
