The challenge
Tens of thousands of US horse racing fans use FanDuel’s online betting platform every day. The company and its customers rely on the website performing efficiently, accurately, and without incident. Any issue with performance has serious consequences. A one-minute interruption, for example, can lead to millions of dollars in lost revenue.
This is the kind of thing that would keep senior FanDuel executives awake at night. Particularly when one of the major challenges the business faced was troubleshooting. It would find out about a bottleneck in one of its systems days after it occurred. With too much time spent on identifying and resolving incidents, there was no time left to understand why they happened. The business needed more insight into its systems, applications, and key business performance indicators, and asked its trusted software development partner, Mindera, to find a solution.
The solution
What FanDuel needed was an application performance monitoring (APM) tool that could alert its technology team to any system anomalies that could cause disruption. This would enable potential performance issues to be rapidly diagnosed and remedied, ideally before they even become service-affecting incidents. And Mindera had the perfect solution.

The intuitive nature of Mindera’s Statful enables the FanDuel team to send metrics to the tool via a straightforward line protocol. Real-time data of the metrics is then immediately available via a customisable dashboard.
