Mindera UK Foundation

learn, explore and grow.

We empower young adults (16–30) who are not in employment, education, or training (NEET) to discover their potential in tech—helping them learn, explore, and grow toward a future where every young person can thrive in an inclusive and accessible digital world.

“A future where every young adult has the opportunity to thrive in a tech industry that is fair, inclusive, and accessible to all.”

Why We Exist

Across the UK, too many young people are being left behind:

  • A Generation Left Behind

One in eight young people (aged 16–24) in the UK—nearly one million—are not in employment, education, or training.

  • Regional Inequality in Youth Opportunity

In the East Midlands alone, 12.1% (109k) are NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training).

  • The Cost of Long-Term Unemployment

NEET youth are 3x more likely to face long-term unemployment, costing the UK £45B annually.

  • The Growing Digital Skills Divide

The digital skills gap is growing: while 88% say digital skills are essential, 40% lack basic skills and only 18% feel confident.

  • Deep-Rooted Inequality in Education and Work

Inequality runs deep: 30% of free school meal-eligible students are NEET — nearly three times their peers.

our Programmes: Engage – Direct Support for NEET Young Adults

We run fully funded Tech Camps giving NEET young adults (16–30) practical digital skills, confidence, and routes into tech careers, apprenticeships, or education. Working with partners like the the Department for Work & Pensions, NHS & King's Trust, we’ve supported 75+ young adults; 91% felt more ready for tech careers and 100% felt included.

By collaborating through Tech Camps, employers can address skills shortages while unlocking opportunities for young people.

“87% of businesses in the East Midlands anticipate a skills gap within their organisation, with the biggest at entry level (35%).”
